What is an Advent Calendar?

Hey! The advent calendar is used to count the days of Advent, starting on Sunday 30th November 2025, leading up to the Celebration of Christmas on 25th December 2025.

It's about the joy of this special season of approaching Christmas!

Each day of these advent period you can open the small flap on the advent calendar to discover what it is behind! There could be a small illustration which is part of the nativity story of Jesus Christ.

There may be behind each door a bible verse or a prayer. When I was a kid my younger brother and me were taking turns of opening the small flap of each day of advent that was leading us to the moment of the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ on 25th December. A small game we made is that we had to guess what is behind the small flap before opening it!

Did you know that the advent calendar was used in 19th and 20th century by German Christians? I recently purchased one from a Christian bookstore, and it was made indeed in Germany!
